Our Guest Speakers will be:
Sean J. Haley, PhD, MPH - CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy
Dr. Haley received his PhD in Social Policy from Brandeis University and his MPH in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Michigan. As an Associate Professor at the City University of New York, he explores implementation and policy factors associated with substance use prevention and treatment. Dr. Haley is Co-Principal Investigator of two federal alcohol grants: a CDC grant exploring alcohol marketing on social media and a NIAAA grant looking at alcohol home delivery practices in 6 states. He served as the Chair for the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Section of the American Public Health Association, and in June of 2020 he co-founded the national Alcohol Action Network to address the rapid expansion of alcohol availability initiated during the pandemic. Dr. Haley spent the 2018-2019 academic year as a Fulbright Scholar leading an implementation study on alcohol screening and brief intervention in primary care within Rio de Janeiro’s public health care system. He has been recognized many times for his leadership in his chosen field, including as the recipient of the American Public Health Association's Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Section Leadership Award and Project Extra Mile's Diane Riibe Going the Distance Award.
Marty Conboy, Former board member of Project Extra Mile
Marty will be speaking about the founding of Project Extra Mile and the continuing importance of its mission to prevent and reduce alcohol-related harms.
Marty worked for the City of Omaha from 1981-2012 and was the City Prosecutor from 1994-2012. He served on the Project Extra Mile Board of Directors during the organization's foundational years. Marty was instrumental in helping name the organization and has always worked to better our community and our state through his service.
