We are currently hiring a part-time Project Coordinator at 20 hours per week. 

SUMMARY OF POSITION 

The Project Coordinator is responsible for enhancing and complementing the youth leadership, community relations, media advocacy, and awareness work being done at Project Extra Mile to prevent and reduce alcohol-related harms. The Project Coordinator will help plan and implement programs and develop relationships with both young and adult leaders in the Omaha metro area to help the organization achieve its mission.

Salary: 

$16-20/hour based on experience

 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support program implementation as needed in different capacities (office support, organizing of resources, documentation, etc.)
  • Track alcohol-related media articles and high-profile cases involving excessive alcohol consumption and distributes to staff.
  • Assist the Financial Director with financial tasks (printing checks, invoice approval, filing and other duties as required)
  • Assist in planning and coordinating Youth Leadership Retreat, Youth Leadership Day, and other coalition events.
  • Organize group activities that may involve youth and adults alike in several different formats (dinners, rallies, meetings, projects, etc.).
  • Assist with youth group meetings and related activities.
  • Contact and build relationships with school guidance counselors, youth ministers, and other community leaders to garner support and also gain members for youth group activities.
  • Attend community meetings and events that help build local relationships that advance the key initiatives of Project Extra Mile.
  • Act as a technical resource when needed for any group seeking current and accurate information regarding alcohol and its effects on youth.
  • Assist in writing letters, letters to the editor, news releases/alerts, newsletter articles and other communications as needed.
  • Maintain databases for coalition, media, and awareness campaigns.
  • Website maintenance
  • Other duties as needed or assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience working with high school students guiding them toward accomplishing a common goal
  • Knowledge of strategic and event planning
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to build relationships
  • Must be energetic and outgoing with a positive, optimistic attitude
  • Must pay close attention to detail
  • Enjoy working with people, particularly young middle and high school students
  • Organizational, writing and public speaking skills a must
  • Self-starter with an ability to work independently while handling multiple tasks and schedules
